I watched Doug Beaumier's latest video and it impressed me much.
Then I watched his other videos on U tube and I saw he played on other axes as well, but with different sounds.
Now, what influence does the nut have on a lapsteel? Be it steel, plastic, bone, ivory, copper, etc?
I accept that the bridge is made of steel, but how about the nut, and on guitars?
Thanks,

My theory, and it's just a theory, is the nut should be metal so you don't have a huge difference in tone between a barred note and an open note.
If you used a plastic bar, you would have a deader sound than a stainless bar. I use a brass nut. Easier to work than steel and seems to do the job. _________________ Bill |
