Regarding the MPI session June 22-23 with Duane Eddy and Dan Dugmore in Music City: the latest news is that Duane and Dan are planning to record and mix a new version 'Blue Jade.'

Also, the track is slated to be included on a future album benefiting the Country Music Hall of Fame.

With keyboardist Spooner Oldham and guitarist Richard Bennett also committed to the dates, this is shaping up to be quite a heavy-weight recording session, at least by my standards. The room will have more legends than a road map.

Thanks GB.

Steel Guitar Forum members interested in attending please PM me before May 31st for a "members only" price. Thanks to Bobby Lee and the SGF for all your help.

David Leonard is now set to engineer and mix this session for us. His track record is extraordinary, including two engineering Grammys and a resume that includes Dwight Yoakam, John Mellencamp, Paul McCartney and Prince.

If you've ever been interested in what goes on during a pedal steel master session, in this case with the great Dan Dugmore, then this is for you.

Not in the cards for me to go, and along with the other legends I would love to see Richard Bennett in a studio atmosphere.

I've seen Richard several times in concert with Mark Knopfler (and Rodney Crowell some years back). He has a resume as long as your arm and has released three instrumental albums of his own. An amazing player.

Yes, Richard is in a class all his own, just a brilliant musician and a gem of a person.

Here's an interview published tonight with some more details about MPI sessions, including the Duane Eddy/Dan Dugmore dates: http://sun209.com/music-producers-institute-brings-artists-fans-together-in-the-studio/

This is reallt a perfect pairing. This is when Dan's power as a creative artist really comes out. Two creative minds playing off each other.

There are still a few seats available if you've been thinking about joining in the fun June 22-23 in Nashville. I can't wait to hear how Dan and Duane will approach "Blue Jade."
