I'm really looking forward to June 26, this will be another fine effort from Jerry.
Below is a link to Paul Simon's "The Boxer" from the new album. Lead vocals from Marcus Mumford.
I was having a difficult time picking up Rhymin' Simon's contribution to the arrangement and asked Jerry about it on his forum, here is his reply:

Glad everyone is digging the new record. Apparently radio has taken a very keen interest too. It's all a little overwhelming at the moment. Mark, if you listen to the beginning of the Boxer, you may hear the decay of a bowl Paul put on the front, then that is he singing the high moving parts in the first chorus. He's also playing some electric backbeats against my solo. Then finally at the end he and I take it out alone. I had another ending with M&S before Paul came on, but he asked if we could end it the way we did when we were touring together which I found rather poignant. Who am I to say no to Paul Simon. I love the way it ends.
Can't wait until you hear the rest. You won't be disappointed. there's a lot more where that came from. |
