This is another pitch for the Sacramento Music Festival this coming Memorial Day weekend. This is probably the biggest annual musical event in the Sacramento region, featuring live music on multiple stages through out Old Sacramento and Downtown Sacramento. The musical styles are very diverse now, as opposed to the old days when it was just jazz.
This year there will be a number of steel players performing. On Friday at 4 pm the Twilight Drifters will be playing. They frequently use Ray Elzey on steel. I am not positive he will be playing, but he probably will be.
On Saturday I will be playing with the Stardust Cowboys at 2:30 and 5:50.
Also on Saturday at 10 pm, there will be an act called Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys. I believe they will have a great swing steel player named Lee Jeffries.
On Sunday I will be playing with the Stardust Cowboys at 10 am, 4 pm, and 5:30 pm.
Also on Sunday, at 10 pm there is an act out of So Cal entitled The Lucky Stars. Their website shows a guy playing a triple neck console steel, possibly a Bigsby. Probably worth checking out.
Then on Monday at 10 am Joe Carlson will be performing with his group Foxtails.
This is a fun event for all, and the weather forecast is favorable this year.
