I'm sure someone will tell me how bad I got taken on my Alumitone purchase:). I gave about 118.00 for my Black anodized Alumitone pick up. I like a lot other players think the Alumitone was plain UGLY, then I saw the Black anodized one it looked pretty good. I looked high and low for a pick up,seemed the only used ones were wide mounts. i got offered every type of pick up ever made if I wanted a wide mount.
The Black anodized one is a pretty nice looker compared to the other one. Here is where I got mine the black ones are pretty hard to find (again I'm probably wrong),But I couldn't find the black ones even Lace had to make it special but the guy I got it from had them make it and ship it very quickly
(1 day!!)..It is on the way....YESSS, Thanks to all who offered to help thank you.. BH

Hey Bill. Got a pic of that black Alumitone. I am one of those you refer to that thinks the Alumitone is butt ugly. A black one would spark my interest. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Rich, I like to never even found someone selling them I will take a picture of mine when I get it in the package also installed, I heard one in a Lace video I didnt have any idea the guys that made Lace sensors made alumitones no wonder they sound so good. i was going to install a ===== Single coil until i started reading about the noise factor arond florescent and neon lights...ihhh anything like the ones in BARS??..These are supposed to beat the light noise and keep da tone..I think the black ones will make a big difference. I will post them asap |

My GFI has a black Alumitone in it. I have no idea where it came from. It was in the guitar when I got it.

I've never had anyone, ever, come up to my Carter D10 steel before, during or after a gig, look at my shiny, polished Alumitone pickups and say "boy, aren't those things ugly?". It's never happened, and I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for the day when it does happen either!
That said, black Alumitones would look very good in some steels and perhaps not so good in others. All I'm interested in is "how good do they sound"? Those of us who have them already know the answer to that one.
(Looks at pickups) "Boy, aren't those things ugly?!" _________________ The steel guitar is a hard mistress. She will obsess you, bemuse and bewitch you. She will dash your hopes on what seems to be whim, only to tease you into renewing the relationship once more so she can do it to you all over again...and yet, if you somehow manage to touch her in that certain magic way, she will yield up a sound which has so much soul, raw emotion and heartfelt depth to it that she will pierce you to the very core of your being. |

I think the new ones are not Plastic they are the silver ones anodized I will post pictures soon as I can .. |

I have a black Magnum with chrome Alumitones in it. I think they look good and sound very good. I would stack this guitar up against any other guitar for sound (well, except a push pull). If it sounds great it looks good to me.

I agree with B0b, what difference does it really make what a pickup looks like if it sounds good. I have a black and a chrome alumitone and I like them both. _________________ Darvin Willhoite
