I am sad to report, my longtime friend Larry Jenkins passed away yesterday.
LARRY WILLARD JENKINS
REIDSVILLE — Larry Willard Jenkins, 76, of 2621 Wentworth Street, died on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Annie Penn Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. David Huggins and Rev. Haywood Wray officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens.
Mr. Jenkins was born in Asheville, N.C. to the late Willard and Lola Hyde Jenkins. He served in the United States Air Force and was retired from American Tobacco with over 20 years of service. He loved to play his steel guitar which he played for over 52 years and was a member of the House Rockers Band from Ridgeway, Va.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ruth Hubbard Jenkins, of the home; son, Michael Jenkins; daughter, Kim Jenkins Wall and husband, William Alexander Wall and their son, Cody Alexander Wall; step-daughter, Terry Holt and husband, Jonnie Holt; three step-grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren; and special friends who played in the band, Wayne Mosely, Ralph Kennon and Linda Inman.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and other times at the residence.

Jerry, I'm sorry to hear about Larry's death. While I didn't know him personally, I saw him play in Mountain City and also at the Bristol show several years ago. I talked to him a bit and he seemed like a very likeable fellow. I know he loved his push/pull Emmons. |

Jerry, I am sorry to hear of Larry's passing. He was a good man and really loved the steel guitar. I will always have fond memories of the trip Larry, Bryan, Dad and I took to the St. Louis convention in 2007. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. |

I'm sorry to hear about Larry's passing. May he RIP and god be with him now and he will be playing Steel Guitar for all our other hero,s.Anna and my prayers go out to his Family.
