I'm now a GFI player/ proud owner and I've been playin' a GFI since December of 2004. Before I bought my GFI, I had no idea which steel I'd play after my Emmons. When I sat down behind the GFI before I bought it, I was really amazed by the sound and tone and I'm still amazed by it! I was still kinda debatin' with myself about what steel to play, but finally, I decided that a GFI would be my next steel, so I bought the GFI and I was amazed by it! My GFI-now known as "Redgold Beauty" is my best steel. This guitar plays very well, stays in tune very well, and the pedal action is awesome! It's a great steel for steel guitar shows and home use. It sounds amazing through my Peavey Nashville 112 amplifier. I use GFI II pickups on both necks of the guitar. Another thing I love about this guitar is that the necks are closer together so that even with cerebral palsy, my left hand holds the bar on the E9th neck.

Brett that is beautiful. I've never seen that color. I love my GFI too, great sound and stays in tune. I'm using jagwire strings and have a GFI II pick-up as well. Have fun!!!! _________________ ZumSteel SD-10 5-8, GFI Ultra SD-10 3+4, Goodrich V/P, Boss DD3, FenderFM, Vegas 400. Learning to play for my Savior, Jesus...... |

Just another GFI owner joining in. Yours really looks nice. I like mine for all the same reasons previously mentioned, plus the lighter weight when hauling it to various places. Have fun!

Brett, that is definitely a "Redgold Beauty" I always enjoy reading your posts. I'm looking forward to meeting you and hearing you play at one of the steel shows someday. |

My GFI Expo have been on the road with me for well over a year now, playing 2-3 weekends a month. I am just getting more and more happy with the mechanics, weight and everything else.
I am in the process of building a 6 string nonpedal backneck on it
Have been collecting all the right parts now, hoping to start asembly this summer |

Been playing pedal steel since 1975...Various ShoBud Pro models & Marlen Customs, love the tone & feel of both of those but decided to try something different.Finances dictate that for now,i have one steel. My choice was a GFI & that came after missing a couple of Carters i'd been eyeing the GFI Pro Model S-10 w/Pad,Black Mica w/Blue Anodized keyhead, trim & frame came along & for some reason,i said "why not"I still want another "classic"lacquer finish Bud,but the GFI is really starting to grow on me...some of the "modern"features,i like, some old school things,i miss, but overall, with the right amp its a great sounding guitar, not the vintage Marlen tone i love but...like i said,it's growing on me.if i could,i'd buy a GFI Double Neck Ultra,Black w/Brushed Aluminum in a second! |

after owning my GFI S 10 Ultra for 4 years now, (bought it used then) i`was thinking about getting me another steel as a back-up and to be able to leave one at home installed and take the other out for gigs.
i thought it over quite a while and played a couple of other brands. there`s a lot of great manufacturers out there these days and also a lot of very nice guitars.
so, not an easy choice...
anyhow, i ended up getting me another GFI, an S 10 expo for the following reasons:
- top notch customer service, bob at GFI is a pro and really cooperative!
-very rigid construction, frame instead of screwed together body parts
-no nerve killing microphone stand-legs (don`t know why they`re still in use on all other brands)
-light weight
-good tone, though i put on a single coil
-guitar never let me down
-last not least, i like idea of having 2 identical guitars seems easier to me...
