Victor,
Go up to Gig Street Music, just next to Musicstop. Look for the guitar sticking out from the building. Check with Bruce (if he's still the guy) to see if has anything for you. He might have a few leads if there's nothing in the store.
Also, try the Folklore Centre on Brunswick Street near Spring Garden Road. They seem to carry old interesting stuff....might have what you're looking for right there oon the wall.
My apologies if you've already tried these places. Let me know how you make out.
I'll be in Halifax next week. I have a '62 National, White MOT that I would only let go if I could find a lap with legs.
Stay in touch..... |

Hey Ron, you can send me a pic of your lap on my email adress.
Hey Chris, thanks for the tips, but I've already checked these place... I didn't ask the dude at Gig Street though, but there was no steels in his shop.
There was a few steels at the Folklore Center, including an old Gibson BR9. That's too bad I find them soooo ugly looking...
There was an old crappy looking noname steel (probably Valco made) that was for sale for something like 600CAD... Not cheap... The place is really cool though.
The music scene is really awesome here in NS. My first night in Halifax I walked into a blues club and listened to John Campbell. Truly an amaaaazing dobro / PSG player.
Let me know if you know a nice steel for sale.
Cheers,
Vic

Vic,
Roy Thompson, a forumite, lives about an hour from Halifax in Wolfville....he may have a lead or two. I don't know him, but do know he's a very accomplished and well-known steeler. His e-mail is not listed here, but he should answer a posting.
Roy......you out there?
So you saw John Campbelljohn? Yes, there's another john on the end of his last name. Ya, he's a monster player. Plays an EMCI D-10 I believe. |

Roy Thompson had no link... If there is no result on this forum I might go for an old Valco made steel with soapdish pickup lying around at the Halifax Folklore Center.
I'm still looking...
