What are your recommendations for a capo for a 6 string lap steel? |

The Leno, if you find one, is very easy to put on and take with one hand while playing. Beard is fairly good but more difficult to take off in a hurry.
Never found a capo that does not significantly change the sound.
Thanx,

Elmer Bradley Capo pic...
What Johnny Beller says...

I love these capos because they are sturdy, fast to apply on and off the neck and strings with a simple set, turn and clamp. Also, the steel and clamp connection creates no buzzes or zings and keeps your string tone even, clear and in tune. You never need to re-tune once applied. |

I am really liking this capo so far. There is some tone change of course, but I actually like that. I have a standard, Martin 000 series with lovely tone, but using a capo gives me a whole different range of brighter tones up and down the neck. Thats a big plus to me. |

I just picked up the new Beard Waves capo, and so far find it to be quite an improvement over the old Beard (which I found very disappointing, to be honest).
It's got more mass, which must translate to better tone... otherwise it's a similar design, but just seems to work better.
Even better, it's big enough to fit an 8-string! |

I also have a Beard Wave capo, bought it from Paul Beard at Resosummit in Nashville, 2010.
IMO, it's right there with the Bradley as far as ease of use and minimal "tone death." A gigantic improvement over the old Beard capo - which is typical of Paul - never sitting still and resting on his laurels. Always the innovator. _________________ Mark |

I just bought one of the Wave Capos from Mr. Beard himself, who was working the Beard/Gold Tone Booth at Merle Fest in NC. At first I did not realize it was the man himself workin' the booth. A great capo. |

You have convinced me to give the new Beard capo a try. The tone is what I am after, especially if capo up to the fourth or fifth fret.
Thanx,
