A little trivia for you folks......This is the finest park in the State owned category , located on beautiful Ft Gibson Lake and having 19,000 acres of water , 225 miles of shoreline , 104 gorgeous rooms , and , according to their website , 1.75 miles of steel guitars on Memorial Day weekend . I wouldn't kid you...not me .

The steels start lining up Thursday May 24 and continueing throughout the entire session . There will be dance music each night featuring Wayne Morton , Dewayne May , Terry Bethel , and Austin Stewart along with Leona Williams on vocals .

The state park has an abundant deer herd {sorry boys , they're protected} and maybe golf courses and other amenities for your enjoyment . I'm excited about this venue and compliment the leadership on a great decision .

You've got to be there.....it won't be the same without you . I'd also encourage the neighboring steel clubs to attend and support this great show . Mark your calendar now for the Memorial day Oklahoma Steel Guitar Association annual show .

Western Hills Guest Ranch in Sequoyah State Park is A beautiful setting for a Steel Gtr Show. We have our work cut out for us after last week in Siloam Springs, hope we are up to the challenge. There will will be lots going on all day & night, & hope to have the schedule up in a few days. More to come.

For several years we attended a large annual church gathering at The Western Hills resort and I had the sound system there each year. Some crowds were over 500 and they handled it with no problem. The large ball room is sort of "wedge shaped" and getting a great sound there is no problem. Maybe Miss Eva & I can drive over and revisit the facilities. I add my compliments to the club for using this facility. - Smile

Jerry, From Wagoner, you go east on Highway 51 toward Tahlequah. It is probably about 10 miles out there. Just after you cross Ft. Gibson Lake, you turn Right into the park; follow that road all the way down to the Western Hills lodge. It is probably a mile or two. It is a nice place.

Where you turn off hiway 51 into the park drive, there used to be a convenience store on the right and a restaurant on the left that served beef bacon ; I wonder are they still there ?

And Bill, I'll look for the resturant and convenience store, especially the 'eatin' place, you know me! Those are my favorite places!! Smile

And another thing---drive very slowly going into the park, particularly after dark, the deer are thick and act like they own the road ! - Whoa!
