This is a Sneaky Pete masterpiece.
It's not by any means the best recording ever made, but I've listened to this one hundreds of times and never get tired of it.
Listen closely at 2:29 and you'll hear Gram clear his throat after singing "She's telling dirty l-i-e-s" during the last chorus.
Long live Pete Kleinow. |

Me too .... I could listen to that track forever. And Professor Fishell is correct about Gram clearing his throat on the final chorus ... I am amazed they didn't punch in to cut that flubb out. It is still a classic all the same.

I still vividly remember(surprisingly ) the first time I heard that cut. It was '82 or '83 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds Grateful Dead weekend. They were blasting it through the sound system while setting up the stage. _________________ Dave Zirbel-

I was introduced to this tune and the FBB early 70's via the Last Of....double LP from 1972. Even though I have the titles, I always erroneously refer to it as Devil in Disguise.
That video is a treasure. The costumes are almost hilarious....and Pete with his fuzz.... What a band, what an experience it was for me to see them live. |

I listen to it several times a week to this day.
Still can't figure out half the licks in it after 33 years of trying.
FBB ... they broke the mold..... bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

I' m glad you all are trippin' on this. I only saw the once live at a free outdoor show in Griffith Park, Los Angeles. I think it was called the "BE INN" or "Love IN" or some such Hippy trippy name. |
