First, as I plan on building a LONG scale two pickup lap steel around an MSA neck and keyhead, what are the more common 10-string tunings? I know my way around C6 okay but was thinking of others.
Second, as Pandora has been sending lots of Wayne Hancock into my ears, who IS that cool lap steel player he uses, and what is/are his tuning/s?
Some of the more harmonically and melodically inventive stuff I've heard. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Wayne Hancock is wonderful. As for his steel players, I know that the ever amazing Jeremy Wakefield played on A-Town Blues and Wild, Free and Reckless. Lloyd Maines played INCREDIBLY on Thunderstorms and Neon Signs and Anthony Locke played on Viper of Melody. Not sure about the rest of Wayne's releases. I do love everything I have ever heard by him though. He carries that old school country torch like damn near no other. _________________ Brian |
