This weekend (7/22 - 7/24) is the Summer NAMM session in Indianapolis, which is corresponding with the annual Midwest Music Summit, featuring over 400 bands at over 20 locations throughout Indianapolis.
Are any fellow Forumites going to be around for this? If so, just about the ONLY country band of the 400+ that will be there (and I am positive the only one with a pedal steel guitarist) will be The Roundups at the Melody Inn on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 P.M.
Stop on by and say hello!
Maybe Peavey will debut a Nashville 212 or some other pedal steel amp!

I will definitely drop by the booth, John. I look forward to meeting you again and hopefully getting a good look at the Magnum, too!
Don't suppose Peavey will also be displaying steel items?
Anyone else going to be in town for the festivities?

Hey Joe I was in Indy from '74 to '81. Your name is familiar, did we ever meet or is that before your time? I was there when Steve Wariner was just getting started. |

Dale....great to see that you will be playing steel this weekend....I will try ot come out to hear you play! I also forgot that my friend Thom Woodard will be playing console steel in "Stockwell Road" who plays two or three times this weekend....
Ben....I have only been in Indy since '98.
John...NAMM is at the Indiana Convention Center. The musical acts are playing at a plethora of venues around town as part of the Midwest Music Summit.

Joe;
I'll look forward to meeting you. Sorry, I can't make it to see you play as I have rehearsal up here for my own show. I'll look forward to tonight.

I had a great time this weekend.....spent a lot of time with John Fabian and Billy Phelps talking shop. It was especially interesting to learn about various aspects of the pedal steel manufacturing business....John was great to listen to all my questions and answer without hesitation. Thanks, John!
I had a chance to meet John Sebastian (one of my heroes) and Fred Gretsch III at NAMM. Wearing my Sho-Bud hat certainly got some attention at the Gretsch room.....Fred seemed interested in knowing where I bought the hat (mine is legit....it is from the Gretsch online web store).
I did not see Dyke Corson, but did see a Minivan drive past me with Illinois license plates that said "CORSON6"...so I bet that was him!
I got a chance to hear Dale Dorsey play with the Deadstring Brothers....he had a great sound with his double-neck Mullen and N400...the whole band was absolutely fantastic. Without a doubt, one of the highlights of the weekend for me. I also had an opportunity to speak with Dale at length...hopefully we might be able to pull our bands together for a show here in the Midwest!
Best part of the whole experience for me was the opportunity to meet so many nice people, as well as get a chance to see just about every acquaintance here in the Indy music community in the course of 48 hours. Just about every single musician I know was playing SOMEwhere! I was glad to be able to play and be a part of it all.

Not to hijack the thread, but why isn't the Summer NAMM show in Nashville this year?
thanks,
Drew

I believe because the Midwest Music Summit (which, per my badge, is based out of Nashville) occurs each summer in Indianapolis, they decided to move NAMM to Indianapolis this summer to tie in with it.
Looks like Summer NAMM will be alternating between Indianapolis and Austin over the next few years.
