Folks, you need to know that Bob Blair himself was sitting in to the right of camera and doing a fine job helping me out during nearly all of my performances in Dallas, many thanks Bob.

It was my pleasure Kevin! Once again, thanks to the people who worked so hard to make this venue available, and thanks to the TSGA for organIzing an event that brings people together this way.

The Cajun Boys.....I'll need to preface this post....

The Cajun Boys are Murnel Babineaux, Richard Comeaux, and Joe Rogers.....all three play pedal steel....like nobody's business!....If you've ever seen them on the main stage or jamming in the Telonics room.....you'll know how smokin' they are....

Murnel was featured to be the non pedal player backed by Joe on accordion and Richard on guitar.....unfortunately Murnel came down with food poisoning and missed his Friday shows including our non pedal session......that left Joe and Richard up the bayou without a paddle.......well, Richard, who without any practice, was thrown into the steel chair, Joe had his accordion & vocals.....but a Cajun rhythm guitar was needed......fortunately, Jr. Martin (another well known pedal steelist) was at the show visiting his cousin Carroll Benoit, and when he walked into the room, was immediately recruited to play rhythm......AND....not only that.....but we had the great Rose Sinclair sitting in on triangle!!!.....who knew???

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYcfPx0Yfw8

Richard did an amazing, commanding job even though he played it safe.....his right & left hand technique is so solid.....and it's been said that he has "the best thumb in the business".....

Murnel expressed deep regret not being able to play but promised to return next year with "The Boys" and wow us all over again......

These videos are great! I wish everyone could have been there to see the show in person. It's nice to watch these, as I had to duck out of the room to take care of some administrative things from time to time, so didn't get to see all of the performances.

Like most of us, I fell back into the same 'ol grind when I got home, and am finally getting to around to a thank you post.

A big kudos to all those who contributed their time, money, and efforts for a successful show! Smile

First, thanks to all the artists who gave their time to play during the program. They are listed on the schedule and you'll see the videos, so I won't list their names here.

This year we received donations from Bob Blair, Billy Gilbert, George Piburn, Mark Roeder, Mark Moseley, Larry McFall, Neil Cameron, Brad Bechtel, Sonny Jenkins, Gene McGowan, Bobby Eulenfeld, Jeff Repp, and Ben Rubright (if I left anyone out, please email me so I can update the post). A big hand to all these folks, because without donations, we definitely could not put on the show.

Thanks to the back up band. Not everyone got to play this year, but it was nice to have some stand by folks. We were short backup players going into the show. But many artists brought their own backup at the last minute, so it all worked out in the end.

Our backup band consisted of:

Bass: Richard Wright, Bruce Chappelle, Loni Spiker, Ron Vice

Rhythm: Carco Clave, Mark Moseley, Joe Snow, Jim Robbins, Ivan Reddington, Loni Spiker

Fiddle: Mark Roeder

Vocals: Loni Spiker, Ray Allen

Thanks to the following folks who donated equipment for us to use: Mark Roeder, Howard Reinlieb, Joe Snow, Mark Moseley, Ron Vice, Billy Gilbert, Albert Talley, Mike Misetich, Telonics

Thanks to Ron Vice for suppling the house bass equipment, and being on stand by to play if needed.

Last but not least, a big thanks to Howard for standing on his feet for 2 days straight video taping, and for posting the edited footage on You Tube for us all to enjoy!

We hope everyone will go ahead and mark your calendars for March 7-10, 2013, in Dallas, Texas, for the 2013 Rick Alexander Non-Pedal Sessions!

Please forgive me if I accidentally left anyone out. In the meantime, stay tuned for more great videos!

Very Happy

Thanks to my friend Jim Robbins, from Toronto, for helping me out on rhythm guitar.

And to my dear friends Carroll and Anita Benoit for the loan of this awesome "Cajunborne" - just one of Carroll's many spectacular creations.

Many thanks to excellent back-up musicians Kevin Bailey on bass (Lee Ann Rimes, Reece Anderson), Carco Clave on electric guitar (BR549), and Ron Jones on acoustic rhythm guitar (bass with Charlie Pride, Reece Anderson). What a treat! And that singer on "My Window Faces the South" is Ray Allen from Nashville. Nashville Ray! Yeah! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
