I have an Se-200 Evans amp with the stock neo speaker
which is an 8 ohm speaker. Parts express has an 8 ohm 100w Non-inductive load resistor listed. can i take it and wire a 1/4 jack to it and plup it in the external speaker jack in order to drop the load to 4 ohms and get the full 200 watts that the amp is actually rated as being?I know i can use an 8 ohm speaker to do this but i really don't want to have to pack another speaker with me and i thought if this would do the same thing it would fit in my seat for whenever i might need a little more power from the amp. |

I don't think that will really help. It will give the amp the needed 4 ohm load, but the output power will be spread over the two 8 ohm loads and you may not get any more loudness out of the one speaker than you have now.
I had an early model SE-200 with the Eminence Delta Lite 8 ohm speaker. The lack of power was one reason I sold it.
Now that Eminence has a 4 ohm 15" speaker, that would be the best option (the EPS-15C speaker). |

thanks Jack for the response, and information.
Baxter I have only had one time I felt like I could have use a little more fom the Evans but I was sitting right next to a guitar player with his amp next to me I tried moving back from him some but ran out of room...I couldn't say too much because he was the band leaders nephew and he he thought he was the finest thing since sliced bread. |

That resistor would eat half the load. You'd get a drop in power from the speaker.
When I read the first part of the question, I thought you were playing lap or rock and wanted an early breakup. Tom Scholtz (the band Boston, and a clever gearu - gear guru) used to sell a dummy load so you could drive an amp HARD and still keep the volume to a reasonable level.
You're looking at the same thing. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

I would not play with a eveans se 200 I have a
new one and it breaks down all the time with out
me messing with it,more than enough problems to
count,on the other hand maybe it would improve it. |

I put a Black Widow 1501-4 in my 2004 SE-200 with the neo magnet. Lack of power or tone is never a problem. I use it to hunt ducks...or knock down free standing brick walls. _________________ Mullen (Black) Pre G-2 9x7, B.L. 705 PUP's, Evans SE 200 Telonics NEO 15-4, BJS Bar, Peterson Strobo Flip, Steelers Choice Seat, Folgers Coffee and Hilton Pedals.
