What does

mean, exactly?

Is it carbon fiber mica laminated on top of red mica? Is it contact paper? Did you install it?

Thanks

John,

Having seen an earlier reference to this carbon fiber wrap, I bought a 6" x 6' roll of self-adhesive film material at an autoparts shop for about $13. I don't know if it's actually carbon fiber, but it has this pattern in a black/charcoal gray.

I applied it to the flat surfaces of my guitar, which is constructed of a cast aluminum box frame, with paint where a wooden guitar would have mica. Dressed it up nicely, I think.

"faux" (fake) carbon fibre would be the accurate description. I assure you, at $13.00 for a 6'x6' roll, there's no actual carbon fibre there. Looks like a great installation job.

It does look nice, but I question the durability of the wrapping material.

Is the original mica just a solid color bright red, or is it that red birdseye maple mica that Carter seemed to like?

This is a really nice idea, that put an ultra modern look, to a modern pedal steel guitar. I like it! Steel Players always have an unusual niche.
