well for one - if it was made in NASHVILLE TN, then its NOT a 1957 Sho-Bud, it would be 1964 at the earliest. I BET you good money its a 1970's Maverick - and the guy selling it will swear on a stack of bibles he bought it in 1959 from the original owner - we just went through this with a "1952 Emmons" ad on CL a few days ago. _________________ '65 Sho-Bud D-10 Permanent • '54 Fender Dual-8 • Clinesmith T-8 • '38 Ric Bakelite • '92 Emmons D-10 Legrande II |

I asked him for the serial number and pictures. Maybe we'll see just what he is selling...and maybe not???

Could be the deal of the decade; could be a Maverick.

I asked for the serial number and pictures and this is what was sent back to me.
"Greetings, I don't have the information I expected to have for you, my apologies."
"It is a 57 by what was read to me for the post (and google finds lenty of links for 57 sho-bud) but I did not read it myself and it was packed back up for safety therefor pics are not as immediately available as I thought."
"maybe within a couple weeks, hopefully days. I will update you then, as well as the post."
"thanks"
I did a google for '57 sho-bud and an unofficial site states that the permanenent models were started in 1957 by Buddy & Shot. It doesn't state that any were sold in 57, tho. I'm not a Sho-Bud owner or player and don't know anything about any of the models. Maybe someone with more knowledge could shed some light on when "permanent" models actually went on the retail market.
Here's the 'unofficial' Sho-bud link:

Dudes, he's selling a -57 Show-Bud, not a Sho-Bud Seriously though, first Buds were made in -57, and I believe the only single neck was the first guitar which was Don Warden's and this is not it. Next guitars were D8's and went to Ben Keith, Jimmy Day and Buddy himself. Our Al Udeen also got one of the first ones. And permanent Buds were made in Madison, TN, up until -64 not Nashville and it reads in the decal. Also, the Madison and early Nashville Sho Buds did not have any serial #'s.
A photo would tell what he has, probably a Maverick! |

It's just far enough away that I think I'll pass on taking the time to go find out. I'll bet it's a Maverick.
Nothing wrong with those - I had one and liked it. But it took a little work to find the right buyer.

THis is a Sho-Bud Maverick. It's possibly from the late 70's or early 80's. Not collectible at all IMHO.NO WAY is this from 1957! Doubt if it's even from 1975!
I had a beautiful birdseye maple Maverick from 1974(model # 6138).
Production on Mavericks didn't start until the very early 70's. _________________ Dana Blodgett
