He's a real showman and class act! Smile I forgot to metion that he is hot on the banjo too. If you go through that youtube account you will see him playing his banjo behind his steel.

Jean-Guy has many layers and he will just keep on surprising you the longer you follow his endeavors. Not too many musicians I know of are as flexible. Pedal steel, lead guitar, banjo, bass and drums. And while I knew he was also a singer I was amazed at just how good a singer recently when he did a vocal duet on a weekly television show. He has a really nice voice.
To me, one mark of a truly exceptional musician is the ability to back up a singer singlehandedly. Jean-Guy Grenier has toured extensively with Quebec singer Patrick Norman where he does that. They did a two man show with Norman doing vocals and acoustic guitar, and Jean-Guy in his multi-instrumentalist role. Impeccable.
Here's one important reason Jean-Guy is so good at what he does. It's only part of the equation of course, but like so many of the musicians who rise to the top of the heap he has this on his side.

He started young!

Thats the prettiest tone I have ever heard out of a shobud other than Lloyd Green and Dicky Overby! I should have Put Jean Guys name on the header to show the man his due respect becuase he deserves it! If he was never named steel player of the year in Canada than I don't know why other than politics.

Very good.

There are some very talented players in the world.

He looks a bit like a cross between John Stannard and Ken Fox!

Very Happy

I went to a local pub last Thursday.
Just up the road.
A tiny village pub in the middle of nowhere.
I have been asked to visit there many times in the last few years.
I checked it out.........

It was full of VERY good singers, instrumentalists, and controlled players.
I was handed a Dobro not many minutes after walking in, given a key of C, and I played dobro while Help Me Make It Through The Night was sung by an old boy in the corner.....

Brilliant night...I managed to get the backup and break done... I left it at that, and watched all the others......

So many many many good musicians, even on our doorsteps, you have to look further than YouTube even and get out and about... I wouldn't think even many of these old folk have computers yet alone broadcasted anything on YouTube...

Anyway, I diverted from this posting, and thread, great, super picking by all in the band..

Going back to watch the other links now..

Here's one from the two man show they (Jean-Guy & Patrick Norman) were touring with a couple of years ago. They're on tour again but with the addition of a keyboard player.
