I have (I think) found the problem to my tonal setting.I think(not sure) the old man that fixed my amp may have replaced one of the Burr Brown chips with a standard IC chip.I took the chassis out of the cab & was going to put back the original chips but could only locate 7 of the BB chips but to be sure I would need the diagram that Ken Fox or someone else posted on the placement locations.Would someone kindly post that info. or send it to my forum email add:I have searched the Internet but couldn't find it.I know Mike Brown had it on there but I can't find it & I've lost the one Ken Fox sent with the BB's I ordered from him.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,Thanks. |

Just as I suspected, one of the chips has been replaced with this # BA4558
650 H14.
The originals have RC 4558P on them,so I am going to replace the BB's with the org. or ask Mr Fox if he can send me (1 BB IC chip)Thanks again to Mr. Wagner for posting this info. |

OK,just received word from Ken Fox on the BB chip,he can't sell me just a single chip so this brings me to the next question:
Is there anyone out in TV Land ,oooops "steel guitar forum land" that might have an extra OPA2134PA BB chip that they'd be willing to sell me?
I found one on EBay but they want want to be paid via Pay Pal & I don't have an acct. with PP.$7.99/free shipping,a bit pricey but.........
I'd really appreciate if anyone can help.
Thanks,

Mouser Electronics has the chips. You can look at their catalog for prices. I would replace those 4558's with the 2134 chips. I replace the 4558 chips in my Bandit 65 with the OPA2134' with no problems. |

Larry;thanks for the info.I do have the 2134's but recently my amp went belly up & I had a local music store use their repairman,he didn't know about the BB chips apparently & replaced on of them with a 4558 while the rest were BB chips & it made my lows, highs presence not work,so I put the 4558's back in .Anyway I'll chk. out Mouser Electronics. Thanks again. |

Perhaps moving the single 4558 to a different socket may improve things. It may make less difference if it is further downstream. Without a schematic I am just speculating. Ken Fox or Mike Brown can probably tell where to move it or even if that would do any good. |

That's good news, Ransom. Glad to hear you got it sorted out.
By the way, I'd say that 4558 chip is defective. If it was good, the tone circuit would have worked...though not as well as with the BB chip. Since the tone circuits didn't work, my opinion is that it was a bad chip. _________________ Best regards,
