I am not special, but I would volunteer for a slot as a substitute or such. Darrell C. could vouch for me in lieu of an audition.

This show is going to be unbelieveable. I can't wait to see and hear all this talent in one room. Proud to say I'll be sharing the stage with some of them as one of the staff piano players along with the great Donnie Edwards. I've had this date on my calendar for a year and we wouldn't miss it for the world! My friends Rich Mounce, Bobby Duncan, and the rest of the Central Illinois Steel Guitar Association Crew have really done a fantastic job making this second annual show a jam packed day full of great pickers. Hope to see some familiar faces from some of the other big steel shows, as I know we will. It will be well worth anyone's trip if you can plan to make it. See you in Peoria, IL June 26th!

Willis it is nice to be vouched . Chrissy ,I am in the process of recording to CD's some casette tapes of Andy Acrees new years jam of 19?? you are about 12 years old and playing some fine keyboard. Some of the songs you played were Rocky Top and In the mood. You are getting the first copy. It makes one feel old to play with the children of fine musicians of days gone by like Chrissy's dad "Sparky".

Hi Lyle, It would be a great trip down memory lane to hear those recordings of us at Acree's New Year's Jam. I can't wait to give em a listen. I get all sentimental when I think about all the good times dad and I had at those jams back in the good ol days! That's probably why I am so excited about being a part of the Central Illinois Steel Guitar Association. It really helps keep old musician buddies like ourselves in better touch with each other. Let me know when I can get ahold of that CD, ok? Look forward to running in to you at another steel event soon. See you in Peoria in June if not before!

WOW...Would love to have a copy of that myself Lyle. Chrissy is a super player and we feel honored with her being a part of the staff band at "Steel Jam 05". The entire staff band are incredible players and if you enjoy great playing don't miss this show. Doug Jernigan is absolutely a great player.

Hey Billy,
The shirts are ready, and I have them. They turned out really nice. $12.00 for members. Let me know what you need, and I can send them to you if you like. I'll have them at the May 22nd show at the Bloomington VFW. Hope you can make that one too.
Later,

You will have one Rich Mounce. I have 4 90 minute tapes to save to CD. It will be the whole jam session, conversations, tuning and all. Probably even the sound of us eating the potluck lunch. You will have to listen for the mystery guest steel guitar player, not me.

For anyone else that might be intersted in these shirts, they are $15.00 each, for any available size. CISGA members can buy them for $12.00. I think we have them up to size 3x. We can order them larger than that, but will have to wait till the next run.
Get up with me or Rich to place an order, and of course they will be available at all of the CISGA shows.
Check the site for show schedules at http://takeoff.to/steeljam
Check them out.

Looking forward to playing at the June show in East Peoria. The Creve Coeur jam was wonderful, great band there---expect the band at the June CISGA event will be superb. Last years event was wonderful, this one will be even greater I know.

We will have our Verizon Wireless booth there at the CISGA event activating phones and doing upgrades with specials for musicians.
See you all there.

Hey Gary, I finally figured out you are the other Decatur area banker or ex-banker who plays steel. The other one was Randy Major who years ago worked at a Decatur bank. Now I know. Hope to meet you at the Peoria show.

Gary - Lyle...You guys live so close together and play steel guitar and you have never met. Isn't that unreal. Well you can meet in June! Steel guitar brings people together...

Gary - You are so right. The Creve Coeur show was fantastic. Some really fine steel guitar and fellowship. I am so glad you mentioned the staff band because we feel we are very fortunate in having some of the best players you will find anywhere for our show. When we started putting together the staff band our biggest problem was who to pick because we have so many great players in this area. They not only play great but know how to play which is very important on shows of this kind. I know everyone will enjoy the staff band we have came up with for the June show and sure the steel players will have a blast working with these guys.

Also do not forget the Doug Jernigan seminar on Sat June 25. We have 3 slots left so if you are interested in taking the seminar contact me asap. This will be a chance to learn from one of the greatest players and teachers out there today.

Hope to see everyone at STEEL JAM 05!

Lyle, actually I've never been a banker. Randy Major was or still is. Met him once and he should be aware of this show also. I am sure he would like to attend. He was working for First National, Main Street Trust in Decatur.

I have a Verizon Wireless business, insurance agency, and am an investment representative with AOS, Inc., have my office in Mt. Zion. Give me a call sometime. Gary Sill Insurance & Financial Services, or Mid-Illinois Mobile Communications. Will see you at least on June 26th. in East Peoria. I'm telling you based on the work they did last year, this will be a bang up show this year. It was wonderful last year and this year with Doug Jernigan being there and even more players all day and night, wow.
