I have a Fender Stringmaster D8 I'd like to part with. I bought it about ten years ago. When I last researched, it came out to early 1950s.
One pickup is bad, it has been REFINISHED, only comes with one thumbwheel, there's no rubber ends on the legs, and there's no Fender logo on the backside. I'd qualify the pitting as moderate. Original case, but in rough condition.
I'm asking $600 but would like to trade for a 6-string lap steel.

Hi Tom,
While you are the first to say "I want it", I am currently in the works of a trade with a couple other forum members. There will be a decision by the weekend. I'll keep you, and this posting, informed.
Thanks, Nathan |

The previous deal fell through. The general reason was the refinishing, which I uppercased in my original posting. The specific reason was the quality of the job on the inner corners. If you are looking for a collector's piece, this is likely not it. If you are more interested in a musical instrument, it may be of interest.
Here's some photos in attempt to avoid wasting anyone's time.
In my opinion these pics exaggerate the issue, which is a combination of wood grain and unprofessional sanding, but they are real photos, so....

And another pic for good measure:
