What songs do you play at your steel jams? We try to mix it up with shuffles, one slow one, an up temp etc. We be jamming May 20the and I am on the look out for something interesting.
This time I am looking at playing a 12 bar blues, modulating a half key each time the next player takes a break. Should be fun.

Larry, you have 20+ steel pickers waiting to take a ride with 1/2 step intervals...you may find the key will be lost at some point and not everyone is comfortable playing in Db, Gb and other select keys that may require more thought before said note comes out.
Why don't you offer a BIAB set list to your participants and allow them to select ditties and then have someone tabulate the most popular. Submit your query via email and hopefully you'll get enough responses... a little planning goes a long way _________________ Assorted gear and a set of hands...

Gary our guys all play well and I think they would get a kick out of 1 song that challenged them.
I am open to songs to play from the guys, we have been doing this since the late 70's so it is not new to us just looking to shake things up.
At one point in time(70"s) the Seattle group and our Portland group were the only ones doing jams according to Jeff Newman.
Chris do not be afraid, the water is fine, jump in and splash a little, it is all about the brotherhood, the music just gives us a string that attaches us one to another.

Question ? What is the terminology for two or more players playing 4 measures and passing it on ? It must be referred to as something ? |

I always liked Clapton's live version of "Rambling On My Mind" where he shouts out the key changes at the end of each verse. |
