Hey folks, here's some Billy Robinson video from the Dallas show...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qT3pkLjtRP4

If you didn't go, then this is some of what you missed.

I sure had a nice time... my first Jamboree, but not my last! Hey Brad (our moderator), I looked for you Sunday morning to say 'bye, thanks for making me feel part of the gang, hope we meet up again soon (when we can get a rhythm section!).

Two of my all time favorites!
Anyone know what steel Billy is playing in this video? It's not the Derby I'm used to seeing him with.

Sorry I forgot to add Carco Clave to the title... he's pretty big in this one, too.

I turned off (or tryed to) the shake-remover... the visual distortion was distracting, the shake was better.

Thanks for watching, folks. I've got more in the can.

Does anyone know what brand steel he was playing? On other youtube displays he was playing a Derby S-10 console.

Billy's playing is extra special here--it must've been the mood lighting. Thanks for sharing.

Hey thanks Mike. Glad to see we're hearing the same thing... I tell you, live, it cut through me like a laser beam of love. I don't know if anyone else teared up like me... don't care. Managed to hide it.

Believe it or not, there's an even better one (for tearing up, at least). Here's the link, I'll also post it in its own topic.

A Jimmy Dickens tune, dripping with Billy.
I hear violins and cellos.

This is a custom guitar Billy had for many years, but didn't play it much, as he was used to a 10 string tuning. Carco recently converted it to a 10 string, and this is the first time Billy has played it out. It sounds great!

I have to say, Billy Robinson is one of the nicest people I've ever met. I always enjoy talking to him or getting to see him. He's the kind of guy that puts a smile on your face. No one is more of an authority on the late 1940's & early 50's Opry country music scene, as he was in the staff band. He played with all the stars of the time...Hank Williams, Jimmie Dickens, Red Foley, George Morgan, etc...

I could listen to stories he tells of the Opry stars and their 'adventures' for hours! As well as watch him play for hours!

I agree--he really is an incredibly warm and engaging man and I regret not being able to talk with him again this year. Such a talented man, too.
