It's got a funky swingin little groove to it and all...but I don't hear a hook. It needs a bridge or something.

Too cool...Here's to ya, Chas.
If you play it backwards, it's really "A Way To Survive"? Right?

Which gtr was this? The one with the rods?

Gentlemen, thank you. It's nice to get some attention and I was wondering, who knew or how did they know about that one.

Close. Actually, if you play it backwards it's very similar to "My Pal Foot Foot"

Close. There were 3 instruments, in the credits, used on this one. The Copper Box, 1st pic, The Mantis, a titanium structure that spins, 2nd pic and...

... The Majestic. Years ago there was a movie, The Majestic, (that tanked, big time) and I was part of the design team and later, the foreman on the construction crew that built and installed the internal steel frame for the marquee. After we finished the frame, I went in early, set it up on the nodal points, hit it with various hammers and recorded it. The installation, and shoot, was in Ferndale, CA and it was like going back 50 years to another time, that was preserved.

Is the copper box a version of a water phone ? It sounds similar to one I ran across in a studio once. Here's one on youtube . . .

I think I may switch out the pedal 4 Franklin change to try and get that sound.

What, no "A" pedal squeeze here?
Great stuff, Chas. Glad to see your work being recognized. Congratulations, and keep it up!

Jeff, any musical instrument with vertical rods can be traced back to Harry Bertoia and he was my inspiration, if you want to call it that. Back in the early 70's, I got to play around with some of his sculptures/instruments and it made a deep impression on me. In the mid-80's, my ensemble was comprised of percussionists, players who could walk through a hardware, or kitchen supply store and make a symphony out of the stuff on the shelves. They all wanted waterphones and so I did some experimenting with different designs and came up with this one. I think this is the only one I have left, but there's a bunch of them out there.

I remember seeing Smokey Hormel playing a waterphone with Tom Waits.

I played with Smokey in the Radio Ranch Straight Shooters, before he left and was replaced by T.K. Smith. Small world.

John, I tig-torch "autographed" the ones I liked the best and I got a call from a friend who did something at a music school in Iowa and he said they had one.
