I'm hoping to be able to rent a suitable amp for pedal steel when I am playing in Austin next week. Rock and Roll rental has a number of guitar amps, but I have a feeling they would not be clean enough.

I'm thinking I'll rent a bass amp- probably a combo from Ampeg or Traynor. I'm also taking my teensy GK MB200, so I could just plug into a speaker cabinet of some sort. I have a nice reverb pedal.

So I'm wondering, what you folks would suggest. Here is their amp rental page:
http://www.rocknrollrentals.com/amps.html

I figure if I rent something with a 15" speaker and a couple hundred watts, I should be ok.

If I was to use my GK MB200, maybe just a pa cabinet or large monitor cabinet?

If you have an Mb200 that you are going to take, and a reverb pedal, why not just rent a cabinet with a 15" speaker or 2. I don't think you will be real happy with a PA speaker or monitor because of the horn. Just a thought.

...A 65 Twin w/ 2-12's for $29 a weekend?

That's be my choice, considering you prolly have an excellent PA system at the gig, and you can deal with the soundman to help you with the headroom?

Yeah, good point- IF it is clean enough. I recently played at a very high end place in DC with state of the art everything- all the amps and PA were new. They had a twin reverb that I was planning to play through. But once I got any kind of volume, it was just too dirty. I was really surprised.

Question: do the speakers on twin reverbs all plug into the amp with a 1/4" plug? If it is too dirty, I could just drive the speakers with my lil' MB200.

Lynn,
If you cannot find something suitable to use I have a couple amps you can use. My buddy will be down there providing PA equipment to several of the venues. I can send an amp with him to avoid transportation issues for you.

If I can help, Shoot me an email or pm.

Best,
Justin
