I have many Guitar magazines from late 1980's thru early 1990's from my son. Are they worth anything or should I just offer them free on craigslist?

I used to have all Vintage Guitar issues, most Guitar Player/World, and many others, wish I still had them. There's perpetually viable info like TAB, instruction/tips, and some artist sections. About half of it all is outdated, but still worth having for the keepers if not actual monetary value. There are some issues that will sell, but knowing which ones are a hard to define. I'm one that apprerciates the still useable parts, and would accept some of what you may be offing, but shipping sux. |

They certainly are worth something to someone, Ron. Take a look at a website like www.jklutherie.com - some of the prices for early back issues of Guitar Player etc can fetch quite a bit of money. I emailed them several years ago when I considered selling some of mine and they let me know they bought collections in good condition and wanted to know what I had before they would quote me a price. Ultimately I changed my mind and didn't get back to them. It seems like certain issues are worth more than others but then you have to consider if it might be worth more overall to sell a year as a complete set for example. As Ron W commented make sure you separate the magazine price you want to get from shipping. Have the buyer pay shipping costs as they're bulky and expensive to ship. There are quite a few Forum members that are also guitar players. I'd start on the Forum and test the market for them before just giving them away. |

Considering craigslist is a free forum, one could always offer them for huge money and work all the way down to 'please take these!' should there be no takers. |
