Hi steelers, Im heading to Nashville after the Dallas show, would like hotel central-ish in town to catch a few shows, are there any you would recommend ? being a picker by trade, prefer low budget ! just for a couple of days, then heading to country. Also any good music bars/guitar store recommendations also very welcome. Presume busking is a no no ! Ha Thanks in advance

Hey Kevin, what's "busking"... never heard that before...... Anyway, my wife and I go down there every couple of years and usually stay at the Fiddler's Inn out near the Opryland Hotel. Right across the street is a nice restaurant/bar called "John A's" which has a very good live band Thursday through Sunday. The Grand Ole Opry is very close and all that. If you want to go go lower Broadway it's an easy drive but I'd go in the daytime as it's kind of a sleazy area but there are a lot of tourists so it's easy to "blend in".... To get to the Station Inn for the Time Jumpers just turn at the McDonalds off of Broadway, I think it's at either 12th or 13th.....JH in Va.

If you'll be there on the 31st, please come to the Country Music Hall of Fame at 12:30 for the book release event for "Twentieth Century Drifter: The Life of Marty Robbins." Joe Babcock is gathering a few of Marty's band members for some music, and I'll talk about writing the book.

"Busking" = street performance. I see street performers on 2nd Avenue near Broadway downtown every time I'm there. You should have no problems doing the same.
There are tons of bars and clubs along Broadway in downtown Nashville, plus one of the world's greatest vintage instrument shops - Gruhn's Guitars. You must also drive out to Hendersonville and see Bobbe Seymour's Steel Guitar Nashville.
I like Jack's BBQ in the downtown area. Look at the TripAdvisor forum for real life recommendations on hotels. The Station Inn is on 12th Avenue. Have a great time!
