First of all, I have been playing about 3 years, never had this problem though. And it didn't start until I changed strings a few days ago. I put a set of Lloyd Green's on there and they have the wound G#. Every time I hit the B pedal the A note is way sharp. I back off of the hex nut tuner (thinking it is an overtuning issue) and get the G# up to pitch on the keyhead, then get the A to pitch on hex tuner. When I let off the B pedal the G# is way flat. So I changed the string to a plain string, thinking it might have been the wound string, but have gotten the same results. I have changed the finger holes that the pull rods are in to compensate for the wound string and then changed them back for the unwound string. Any help would be appreciated, it's frustrating the hell out of me. Thanks

Most likely its not the string but something mechanical. Check that theres no loose ball end stuck in the changer or that nothing is binding on the rods. You may want to flip it over and inspect the undercarriage while you activate the pedal by hand. Look at the changer and make sure it is fully returning. It may be time for a good flush with lighter fluid and relubing if theres gunk built up inside.

Hey Bill. Have you had any luck resolving your problem? This one is kinda tough. What kind of guitar are you playing? I'm assuming it's an all pull guitar?

I've been thinking about it and trying to come up with anything that could cause this. Generally, provided the changer is an all pull design, the open note tuned at the keyhead would not be affected by tuning the pedaled note except by overtuning the nylon tuner against the changer finger. I don't think that is your case as the note is flat.

The only other thing I can think of would be if the pull rod is somehow hanging up in the hole in the changer finger. Is there a spacer between the hex nut and the finger?

I read some of your other posts where you were putting a whole tone lower on the 6th string. Was that this guitar?

Also, just curious if you had to re-adjust the pedal stop?

Maybe provide a little more info about your guitar and we may be better able to help you.

thanks jerrys, im playing a williams 700. i emailed bill rudolph and he told me a few things to check out and it solved it. turns out it was a bell crank problem. i had the franklin pedal rod in the wrong bell crank hole and everytime i hit it it would throw my 6th string out of whack and i thought it was an issue with my B pedal. thanks for responding though.
