I'm using an Ernie Ball VP Jr volume pedal with a 25k pot. Pretty sure my Fender 400 is 1meg. What value pot should I put in the pedal? I don't hear much difference switching from the VP to straight in to the amp.

The EB Junior pedal has an oversized pulley, thus the pot only rotates through about 50% of its available travel. When added to the fact that the pot is only 250kOhms there is a lot left to be desired.

Most pot pedals for PSG are 470kOhms or 500kOhms, and if you do not change the EB Jr. pulley as well you will still have to choose between setting it up to be full on when depressed but never fully off or full off when lifted and never fully on.

The standard EB pedal comes with a 500kOhm pot and a smaller pulley, but although somewhat better even it does not allow the full travel of the pot from all the way off to all the way on. I use one of these for some applications but you will want to be saving up your money to upgrade your toolbox when you can.
