I have been using a Peterson Strobo-Flip for about three years. Have only changed batteries a couple of times. I just recently thought about whether, or not, it matters about leaving the cord plugged in and battery life. The manual says nothing about this.
All I usually ever do is turn it on before 1st set, tune up, turn it off, and pack it up at the end of the job. About all the old Sho~Bud ever needs during the gig is an occasional tweak on pedal B.

My understanding is that it does not turn the power on/off by inserting the plug as it has an on/off switch to do that. When I plug my guitar into mine, the tuner does not turn on until I press the on/off switch.
