I Am Wondering How A Traditional Tune Would Sound With A Different Rhythm.
For Instance: SGR Played To A Bossa Nova Rhythm Track. Smile

Just do it. Then you'll know.
Incidentally, we do it all the time with my band. Folky things are done as a reggae. Rock songs are slowed into 12/8 ballads. Jazz standards are given a blues feel, while swamp rock goes Celtic. I keep my steel for the Gershwin songs!
We are not a tribute band!
Cheers
Dave

I have been in bands with so many multi-instrumentalists that from night to night any given song might be rendered as country, rock or reggae, depending on who was playing which instrument on stage when we got to it on the set list. "Wild Horses" might be pure country one night and the next it would be a full-tilt reggae anthem.

My own 1996 album included a reggae version of Curtis Mayfields' "People Get Ready" - unfortunately copyright laws prevent my posting it on the net.
