and thanks, all of you. its got a lot of flaws up close. i need to wet sand some more. putting some screws back in i heard a couple of lacquer pops.nothing serious, i looked. and theres still too much blue stain on the inlay on the front apron, but more wet sanding will take me down to the clear lacquer so i know when to quit. i kinda like the bluish tint to the letters anyway. i took that picture in the pitch black dark with a flash. shows all the grain. the pad ive made is a cream color. we'll see how that goes.lol

Tony what is the color of the blue stain you used on the ldg called ? I want that color on a new guitar when i buy. thanks

Its the blue stain stewart- mcdonald sells. You really have to keep laying it to it to get it that dark. The stain is a concentrate so about 25 to 40% mixed with alcohol. Just have to play with it.
