I'm begining to wonder if the springs are wore out?
Your suggestions are most welcome. This is a 73, 6139 with 3&4. The only other pull on this lever is the D to C#.
Thanks, Dennis |

Unhook the raise spring(that is the spring closest to the body attached to a bracket on bottom); see if that doesn't help.
Otherwise; you have something binding or finger pivots crud up; or the lower is already a little engaged at open D# note and that would do it....> so you need to back off the lower fine tuning and give yourself a little more distance to the stop for that lever and have at it.

No prob; just let me know if that helps and gets it done?? If not; I have about 9 more things to check out..ha...>but I need you to snap a shot of that area underneath of the changer end.

A fairly common reason for that in addition to what Ricky has said is excessive tension on the lower return spring. I have found that the lower return spring adjustment is critical to a well balanced changer. Besides the obvious 2 functions of making the lower finger return from a lower as well as keeping it back during a raise, excessive tension will cause undue stress on the pivot between the lower and raise finger causing the raise to activate while the lower finger is engaging- in effect chasing its tail causing excessive travel. |

Thanks Ricky and Jim. Unhooked the spring at the body and it got me darn near there, backed off the lowering spring return and that got it the rest of the way. I'm so thankful to you guys and the forum. Thanks again. Dennis |
