Here are the New Long Scale DIY Body Blanks In Flamed Maple made with CNC precision by GeorgeBoards.
This could be an awesome - Single - Double Console -
$125.00 per each + $25.00 shipping within USA -- International Shipping I will calculate for your country.
We have done the Hard Part making the Head Stock and neck shape.
All you need is a 10mm drill bit , hand battery drill to make the tuner holes.
These are a hair under 1" thick with almost 1/4" thick Floor in the Tuner Pocket.
We recommend you think of these as necks. It could be a standalone lap -
For a lap it is very easy to bond a bottom plank and use a roller top pattern router to trim.
Better Yet these would be excellent as a Console bonded to a larger plank.
I made them extra long so you can do a full 26" scale if you want or a shorter scale with plenty of room for Palm Pedals.
You can purchase a GeorgeBoard FretBoard in low cost peel N Stick and I can sell you a more professional Etched Acrylic style.
We have Tuner Keys in singles to make up 6-7-8 sets as you might choose.
I have low cost high quality Goth type - and I am a dealer for Grover and Planet Waves and can sell you those below normal cost.
This photo I mist-ed them with water to give a visual of what they will look like with finish on them.
Here is one from our last batch of short scales finished out by a forum member.
Your Build can be much easier and extremely accurate.

These bodies are great. Thanks George!
Here are some pics of a project I am working on.
The parts have not yet been mounted.
And I need to add two mini bridges for string 1 and string 8,
because the bender only has 6 strings and the guitar will have 8 strings.

Peter --- That's what I am talking about , Dang !! Looks good , and is not even finished yet.
We have Already SOLD the Middle one so Jump Quick to get yours.
These Flamed Maples are 2 " Longer than Peter's lp steel, this will make for longer scales and less need to squeeze the parts in tightly,
especially when you add a string bender unit like Peter has done.
I look forward to seeing how he does the 1st and 8 string. _________________ GeorgeBoards S8 Non Pedal Steel Guitar Instruments

Peter, those look like Stringmaster parts. Is there a source for these? |

Yes Alan, I picked up this Stringmaster control plate from eBay.
The rest came from other sources, the knobs, the tuners, the switch, the jackplate etc.
I made the fretboard myself from a scan of a Gyatone 8-string lapsteel.
And of course, the body came from George.
If I go ahead and use the stringmaster idea, I will need to do a lot of routing.
I think I will stick to the bender concept, which will give me a very different lap steel,
with much less routing |
