I want to make a narrow pad for my Carter S10. I have a thin board and some thin foam. I want to use some white material as a covering. What is best. For example white tolex or is there something better?

You want some upholstery material that is a little stretchy and soft, like car seat material. You can get some from someone who does car seats. Tolex is not stretchy and soft.

tb,
I own an upholstery shop and I would reccomend you use marine vinyl, like used in boats, it is soft, very easy to work with and it is fade, mildew and waterproof..

I don't get the popularity of vinyl. I think a fabric would feel nicer on bare forearms, and less sticky.
If I were to go the SD-12 route, I think I'd want something like T-shirt knit, but a bit heavier. But I'm a goofball

Lane
I dont mean to be rude in any way, there are vinyls on the market now that feel just like a cloth material. The advantage to this over tee shirt would probably be the fact they wouldnt stain and it would be easier to wipe off with a damp cloth versus taking the pad off to go in the washing machine Laughing
