I have a Carter D10, with a NV112, Boss DD3 and Boss RV5. I would appreciate suggestions about a rack setup that would give good quality sound.

Need seems a funny word to put there.
A Walker Stereo Steel or Revelation should do nicely.
But I don't use a buttload of effects. Reverb nearly all the time, phase shifter and fuzz no more than 4 tunes a night each (I set myself a budget)

You're right, Lane.
'Need' really isn't relevent here, is it?
Appreciate you come-back.......Dan

I've never heard a bad word said about the Stereo Steel, which I THOUGHT had multi effects in it, nor the revelation, which I think only has reverb

Hi guys,
The Stereo Steel has NO effects - just a really good loop (either parallel or series). But it has really great sound. Short of building an all tube rig
(Revelation Pre into a custom tube power amp?) the Stereo Steel is a best bet. I use mine for my "big" gigs.... when I am not being lazy & using the nash 400.

But I do dream about that all tube rig...

Always used the Digitec Studio that came with it. Seemed to sound good....until I hooked it up to a TC M-one. Geez, the difference was absolutely amazing. For comparison I hooked it up to my revelation just to see if that made a difference. The specs show 16 bit, 44.1 processing. Same as the M-one. It made my Rev setup sound just like the Walker set-up. Even through the loop going Parallel. I didn't think an effects unit would make that much difference. Wrong!

There are many to choose from, for years I stayed with PV but in the last year I have gone to the Walker SS and 2 cabinets. 300 watts a side and lots of EQ to work with plus head phone jack and effects loop.

Thanks to Wayne Franco above I am still hooked on the Boss fx, using a VF-1 currently. I let Wayne spend the money then just let the dust settle and follow his lead.

I have the TC M300 in both of my racks and it does an excellent job .. Minimal is better with effects for steel IMO though - unless you need something edgy for rock stuff of course Very Happy

Thanks very much, guys for your comments. It helps a great deal to know what others are using so that I might one day, when I become very rich, be able to have a good sounding setup.....appreciate it.....
