Long time lurker here. The info you folks have shared with me has proven invaluble in my lap steel education. Thanks much. Has anyone played the Asher Electro Jr. with upgraded with the Lollar pickups and differant bridge? I'm curious if any improvement in tone is worth the added dollars.

I have an upgraded Asher Jr. (B Stock) and love it ! Just used it on my latest recording.

Definately do the upgrade package if you can afford it.

Check eBAY as Bill ofen sells 'B' Stock guitars (very minor blemishes) for a reduced price, then have him do the upgrades before he ships it to you.

Hey Andy, I've been playing an Asher Jr for a while now. I did not like the pick ups that came with it. No life, no bite. I saw and heard Steinar playing his Jr on you tube . he later told he had Vintage Vibe make a pick up for him. (Thank once again Steinar for the constant sharing of your knowledge.)

I got hold of Phil Biltboft owner of VV and to make along story short I had a Charley Christion pick up installed for the neck Pick up and a P 90 for the Bridge.
It's my all time favorite electric guitar . I would maybe like to get another Asher with Humbuckings pick ups. If i do I'll go the Asher shop and check out a few of their models.

Andy, Been playing an Asher Electro (not Jr) for about 3 years now.
I tried some of Pete Biltoft's (Vintage Vibe) 'Custom Dual Blade Humbuckers'.
Really like them. Pete is awesome to work with.

Hi Bill

I've got an original Asher Ben Harper (precursor to the Electro) with Asher's own hand-wound pickups. It's a great sounding guitar, but I've often considered a pickup swap. These are not the same pickups used in the Electro though. They have 6 pieces and faux tortoise shell covers. They can be a bit noisy in when not in humbucking position, but the humbucking position is pretty lifeless and I don't ever use it.

Can you tell me why you changed the pickups on your Electro and what the result was?

Andy, Excuse hijack tangent...
Bill, as a long time bluegrass reso player playing rock & roll Lap Steel (with metal fingerpicks), I was having trouble calming down my trebles. Too 'ice pickey' for lack of a better description. Tried increasing distance from pu to treble strings.
Tried turning down tone control, but then seemed to muddy mids etc. when i got the treble under control. Anyway, Bill Asher (also great guy to work with) sent some of these custom Vintage Vibe Blade Humbuckers for me to try. They are also quite hot and bright, perhaps not quite as hot as the original Asher pickups (not the same as your BH model pu's). Its as if the pu's chosen were for playing with bare fingers, not finger picks???
Im thinking of changing around the tone control capacitor??? Any help greatly appreciated. Im going for an old Les Paul type of treble. Still not quite there.
