I teamed up on steel guitar at the Kamaka booth at NAMM on Sunday afternoon with the Kamaka Ukulele folks ( http://www.kamakahawaii.com/) for an impromptu session ( with Asa (rhythm guitar) and Christopher (uke), really great musicians from O'ahu) and then joined by a really great young ukulele master from O'ahu, Kalei Gamiao ( http://kaleigamiao.com/). We played four or five Hawaiian swing numbers and then "Summertime" and "Sleepwalk". Unfortunately, i have no good audio or pics, but I did notice a professional video cameraman come up close by each of us and take some close-up video. If it shows up on Youtube, I will post later.

I did not see too many lap steels or steelers at the show. A few dobros and Weissenborns at the Goldtone stand, including one with two palm levers.

A great time was had by all.... I had a few folk come by afterwards asking what was the instrument I was playing....

That blonde Model 4 Gold Tone Weissenborn at NAMM sounded incredible. So live and resonant. I was really surprised.

There was a really cool Recording King lap steel at The Music Link with colorized photos of Venetian scenes as fret markers. That was cute.

Took a look at the Dusenberg lap steel but thought it was a lotta frill for too much dough.
