Bob Allen custom builds each lap steel to the specifications of the customer, and while it may take 8 to 10 weeks I definitely think it is worth the wait (as do most of his customers).

Here are some pictures of #0236 (you can see how the grain looks in the second picture.):

I already have a Allen Melbert tuned to E9th and I wanted a second one for the C6 tuning, with a George L 10-1 pickup and one of his remaining "egg slicer" bridges (to match the older one). Here's a link to his site:

I call the body shape on this one the Mrs. Butterworth model because it reminds me of the maple syrup bottles! Whoa!

BTW Bob includes many extras with his lap steels. He ships them in the TKL lap steel gig back with a good quality cable. And lately he has been including Paloma Stone steels from Jay Seibert. (All three of those would have cost me around $125 including tax and shipping.)

Steve,
Congratulations! Another fine looking specimen of Bob's talent and craftsmanship. I am anxiously awaiting my second Melbert but in my case I started with the C6th tuning and the second one will be in E. He tells me it will ship this coming Monday and I can hardly wait to get my hands on it.
