I have some LPs that need to be converted to Apple lossless files.
What usb turntable (US made) and software to clean up the pops and hiss for a iMac should I use?

Gary, I'm not a Mac owner, but have recently been using Audacity to do this with a new Windows 7 Laptop, converting to MP3. Audacity has a Mac version, and I believe originated for the Mac OS.

It's a free program, but well worth a donation as far as I'm concerned.

The progarm installed and has performed flawlessly. Plus it is well-documented. Converting to MP3 or WMA formats each required an integral download--integral meaning the download links and configuration were handled automatically by the program once I selected the downloads from the web site.

I don't use a USB turntable. Instead, I have a Sony with a built-in pre-amp, directly to my mic/line-in.

Audacity is a good way to go. once downloaded and everything hooked up
you upload in real time. you watch the digital file scroll.
it is easy and effective.
once you have converted to digital
you can simply export and if your computer
has the program, convert to mp3 or whatever.
I have an mp3 patch that extends the amount first given.
