Very VERY nice ! Loved that electric ukulele playing! I notice he is playing a 10 string Eharp...is he using the Eharp tuning ? Nice tone.

I think I saw a post saying he uses the Billy Robinson tuning. Whatever it is, it really gives some sweet sounds. I'd like to try the top 8 on my Remington Steel.

The Uke is a RISA Electric. Here's one:-

They play nicely although the lack of headstock takes some getting used to.

As they say it's all in the hands. I checked out some Billy Robinson videos on YouTube and playing virtually the same instrument with identical tunings and it sounded completely different- very Hawaiian while Billy Wilson gets a really cool Western Swing twang.

I discussed the Billy Robinson tuning in the other thread but here is a summary:
F-A-C-E-G-A-C-E-G-D

Strings 1 & 3-9 are the "C6 with the D on top" tuning that George Piburn of GeorgeBoards recommends, and has some great tutorial CDs and DVDs for that tuning. The D is pitched between the 4th string(C) and the 3rd string(E). Billy Robinson shows how to use the D string with slants to get a pedal steel type of sound.

The middle 8 strings are the "C6 w G on top" tuning and the bottom 8 strings are the "C6 w/ F bass" tuning which are the same as the middle 8 strings in a C6 pedal steel.

How can it get any better than that??? (I guess having an Alkire 10 string E-harp would help... so I just bought one on eBay.)

Very sweet acquisition!
I'm glad I didn't see it. It might have gotten in the way of my property taxes getting paid.

I saw your note about the C6 with the D on top, and was going to try it on my 8 string, but couldn't find a wrench long enough to get it to the D above the G string:)
Glad you made mention that it is the D below.

Watch out Bill, there's a MOT Eharp from 1954 on flea-bay right now:

I clicked on BillMeLater which means it may get in the way of my property taxes in April Sad . (Their interest rate is outrageous so you do want to get it paid off before the witching hour.)

My E Harp arrived on Wednesday and I tried the restringing for the Billy Robinson tuning. I didn't feel that tuning offered me much more than I can get from 8 string C6 tuning so I restrung it for the Tommy Morrell E9th (which is about as close as you can get to a pedal steel tuning- but without the goofy strings on top. Laughing ) G#-F#-E-C#-B-G#-F#-E-D-B (hi to lo)

Great video ! He makes it to look like child's play , so easy. A newbie could learn from watching his hands. I'll have to watch couple more times and maybe I can improve my playing. What name brand was that bass ?
