Ok here are a couple of Sho~bud's I just finished.
The LDG sp(special paint) belongs to Butch Broad and is a real looker and plays new again.
The Pro~II Custom belongs to Zach Walters and redid the whole system underneath with James Morehead Knee mounts and Knee levers and they are freakin' AWESOME...
Have a ton more on the bench; so more eye-candy to come.....stay tuned...ha. _________________ Ricky Davis

Ricky, those guitars are absolutely beautiful!! I don't see any way possible that anyone could have done a better job. If anyone has a Sho-Bud in need of restoration you would be the man for the job. |

Sho-Bud #13000.
I wanted to post some pics once I got it back in the pocket at my place... as everyone already knows but must be re-stated: parts by James and Teresa Morehead (knees and brackets), refurb and installation by Ricky Davis.

That Moorhead/Davis combination is a winner. Great Sho-Bud parts and installation. If I bought a Sho-Bud that's the first place I'd send it. |

I would too Bro. I had to send it back to Coop; as I waited and waited for parts; then me and Leslie Got pregnant and I had to get out of the Biz: and he sat on it a while; then Bob went and got it...just before Coop Died I believe.
That is Bob Case Shobud that Mark Giles did that finish on....WOW...stunning...and I felt so bad for Bob; as he was so patient and such a great guy....and doesn't deserve the waiting he had to do. Bob if you are out there somewhere; Lets finish that baby or have you got it done somehow??

Bummer...I'm sorry to hear that. Beautiful finish...
As a fan of the much-maligned SuperPro, I'll admit to lusting after that one. I'd love to have one just like it. |

Ricky, question = the under carriage on your Sho-Buds restorations look great. Do you replace all the old metal bell cranks, crossrods and their attachments to the body etc. with stainless steel? The metal work looks fabulous .. as does the rest of your refinishing of the guitars. Fred Layman |

Fred; my work I mainly do is Refurbish. I take apart the whole steel and clean/polish all existing original parts. Now on the later model Shobud's...there are Chromed pot metal parts that WILL break or are going to break; and I will replace them with Steel parts made by James Morehead that are identical to the original; except for the material he makes them from...ha.
It is A LOT of labor what I do. And of course any part that is broken or can't be redone to almost perfect..it is replaced with a original part that is.
Anyone wanting to replace parts with upgraded original style parts....pretty much has to order them through James Morehead and either I'll do the install or he will. I'm sitting on 8 steels right now in the working process and he's sittin on more; plus he's making parts and getting some machined by very slow and expensive CNC shops.....so more than likely ME will do...ha....as we are trying to get caught up as much as possible...>but they keep coming and coming..ha..>which ain't a bad thing...only takes more time and patience from owners and us builders....
When we do get caught up...we will have a HUGE anouncement/presentation that will ROCK THE STEEL GUITAR WORLD....yeee haa.

Here's one of the Al Marcus Sho~bud's I just redid for Rocky in Australia. It was 6 pedals and 5 knees. And we made it 4 pedals and 5 knees and a LOT better parts than what was on there; but all original...>this is a monster playing/sounding Shobud. Barrel tuning behind two hole pullers.
