Please be aware that Lloyd Green is the most knowledgeable person in Tennessee on the subject of steel guitar. I believe he is the most recorded steel guitarist in Tennessee.

Case in point.. Lloyd's exclusive recording sessions as a studio musician. I believe exceeding all others on pedal steel guitar.

Pete Drake played on"Apartment#9"...I'd say Lloyd would be an authority on"who played what"in the time period referenced in this thread...his ability to recall that stuff is amazing!

Tammy in all probabilities is best known for her recording entitled D-I-V-O-R-C-E. Lloyd arranged those steel parts, using the E-F change for the first time in a recording. Johnny Paycheck made the best recording of Apartment #9. Not Tammy, or George or whomever. The band that Johnny was working with, featuring Jay Andrews on pedal steel, for my pleasure, was the best I've heard playing apartment #9. Those highs that only Johnny could reach, made the difference by comparison.

Bill, I disagree. I think "Stand By Your Man" was Tammy's signature song. It was her biggest seller, and also won a Grammy. Also, you are now drifting even further from the topic by bringing Paycheck into the thread.

"STAND BY YOUR MAN" is a much better song as far as the melody is concerned. I play it as a featured instrumental. I'm not so sure about anything beyond that point.
