I, for the life of me, cannot figure out what the steeler is doing at the start of the steel solo...The guitar solo ends on a D chord and the starts in G, and I cannot find it on my guitar where he is getting the phrasing from....Can anyone help me?
Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Brad. Well, without sitting at my steel I'll give it a listen and try to help with at least the first bar for you. Sounds like in the bar (G)that he has his BC pedals down and starting at the 4th fret picking str 34. Than sliding downn to fr 3 and lifting his foot of the BC pedals to make a G chord. Than it sounds like he repeats the same steps for str 45,and str 56. At beat threee(of first bar still) sounds like he holds down the BC pedals sgain and picks 34 than 45 stings and holds for the for the lsat beatr in a C chord. I hope this makes some kinda sense. Maybe I will try to learn the whole solo, scan it and send it to you. I'll try this weekend if I get some "free" time!

I figured out about half of the solo Brad and I'll try to write it out and scan it to this post soon. The problem for me is trying to figure out which inversion af any certain chord that is being played. |

I think Quentin nailed it.
The first five pickup notes are kinda buried under the end of Brads solo, but something like this?
