After having my pup floating around with only 2 screws I have finally got around to repairing it .
What is a good height to set it to ? That is the distance from the top of the pup to the bottom of the strings .

Two quarters (coins) for exposed magnets and One quarter for plastic covered magnets.
Rough start but probably close.

Thanks Ken we don't have 1/4's here but they would be about 1/8" ? So I'll try a 1/4" and go from there .

Bob is correct. 1/4" would definitely be way too much. I have my George L's on my Carter spaced at 1 quarter (1/16") gap, maybe a tad more.

I have a Jerry Wallace TT & I had it set to 1 quarter but read on here that 3 quarters is a good distance, since I don't own that many quarters at any one time I used a pc. of 1/4 in. alum. I had laying around, now my geetar sounds great(or it would if someone else was playing it)

Hi Brendan,

Try the thickness of an Aussie 2-dollar coin at both ends of the pickup to start with. You may find there will be a sweet-spot which is higher for the treble strings than it is for the bass strings but you'll need to experiment to find the tone that is best for you. Start with it level both ends and go from there.
