If weight is an issue for you, you might consider the 4 ohm Jensen 12" neo from Ken Fox. It is 6 pounds lighter than the stock Blue Marvel and to my ear sounds as good. Installation is a breeze since it uses the same mounting studs with no relocation necessary.

i own two nasville 112's, one in England with a black widow 1201 4 ohm speaker, excellent, one here in Ireland which has an 8 ohm evm12L speaker, never tried them side by side, not sure which is the best, but they are both far superior, in my humble opinion, to the stock blue marvel speaker,

I don't think there is a 4 ohm 1201...all I have ever seen are 8 ohm variants.

that is not true Jonathon, i have come across several 4 ohm black widow 1201's, including the ones fitted as standard in the peavey L A 400,
but you would be correct in stating there are 8 ohm variants

Speaker is just crackling, I ran an extension speaker to it and it sang true no cracks. When I got it used it made noise so does just about all of the pots. But I just was going to replace it and was wanting some suggestions. I love the stock speaker very much. Havent seen any 1201-4ohm anywhere.

Found used 1202 4 ohm out of a PA and does it kick butt. The Blue Marvel is a great speaker but this one seems to carry the lows better and doesn't break down at higher volumes. Hopefully I can find another 1202 for my other NV112 one of these days when I'm not looking.

I have the Blue Marvel in my N-112 and it sounds better than ever since I installed Ken's newest chips. The amp seemed to come alive with the chip mod.

The kind of playing I do is Sacred Steel and Blues rock and lets not forget the country chords. But the NV112 is excellent, I just bought this one and the speaker was on its way out I guess.

One thing to think about Dwight, i have a 112 and was having the same problem, sound like a blown speaker, i replaced the speaker and thought that was the fix till later and it started again, i took it to my freind who is a electronics whiz and it wouldnt do it for him, he took the amp out and cleaned all of the wire harness connections and its been great ever since, thats been close to a year now. Just something to think about

Thanks Roger, I was going to have it serviced by a tech because of scratchy pots anyway so. We will see.

I got my pots from peavey, very cheap price wise, and put them in myself, if you can desolder and solder it's a purdy easy job. Hope everything works out for ya.

I put a Black Widow in mine a few years ago and I couldn't tell enough difference in the sound to make up for the extra 10 lbs to lug around, so I took it back out and put the stock speaker back in.

Ken's newest chips and a BW 1203-4 is really the cat's meow. Clean and clear, tons of head room and greater overall presence. You may have to turn the amp "down" after these installs, I did by one whole number.
