Hey everyone,
Zach Scott Theatre (downtown Austin) is putting on a production of Hank Williams: Lost Highway from April 21-June 19 and they are looking for a steeler (and fiddle player as well)... There are some speaking lines for the steel player, although I don't know how much actual acting there is.
Zach is a great place to work - I played steel there for 33 weeks of "Always Patsy Cline" last year, and am just finishing 10 weeks of guitar work in "Aida". I need a break for family time & day job stuff...
E-mail me if you're interested and I'll put you in contact with the Stage Manager.
Best,
Nathan |

This gig is still available - a couple of responses, but the scheduling didn't work out.
My understanding is that a fellow named Kenneth Brian is coming in from Nashville to play the lead (Hank)...
It's not incredibly lucrative, but theatre work has a lot of benefits - you're home pretty early, the environment is smoke-free, and you *almost never* have drunks pawing your steel...! |
