When Shania Twain started performing live in Canada in her early days, who were some of her pedal steel players. Was it Mark Muller?

She's performing live in south Florida January 4th, 2012.

Not sure who played steel for her when she first started out performing live, but Sonny Garrish played on her first record. I first saw Marc Muller on steel with her in a music video in 1998 and live in concert in 1998 and he was with her in 1999, and the years after.

Terry Wendt was also her steel player and music director for a while. A fantastic steel player.

Hi. My 1st show was July 1995 playing Any Man Of Mine on Leno. We did TV promo for 95 - 96. The touring started in 98 and ended in 04. There was one awards show after tour where they brought in someone local to mime.

Shania was not a country act in her early days up here in the frozen North.

She wasn't even Shania. She was Eilleen Twain, a talented pop singer, performing at upscale resorts such as the Deerhurst, in the Toronto area.

I think she was a member of a Vegas Style Revue there.

Here's an old clip

Her move to Nashville and association with Mutt Lang, who crafted her commercial Country Style was where Shania became a Superstar.

My friend Terry Wendt was indeed her Steeler and Musical Director for a very short time when she first began the Nashville trek.

A few years ago she spent several week in my town, renting the major venue to prepare and rehearse for a big tour. The local hockey team had to reschedule their December dates to other cities. Mark Muller, from New Jersey, was in the band at that time.

I just spoke to Al Brisco.
He was the staff Steeler on the radio show "Opry North" and backed a 12 year old Shania singing Country there.

Here's an audio clip, with later photos added:

Heck, I would have. I have no pride. I was even in a band once where our "uniforms" were, pink shirts, white pants and white dress shoes. ARRRGGGGHHH!!!!

Mark, are you not touring with Shania any more? I always loved seeing you play with her. Crying or Very sad

Robin Ruddy played with her either immediately or shortly after Terry left. When Robin referred me to follow her, there were two surprises at the audition. The first was that most of the audition was a blast and was just jamming on classic rock songs. (Perhaps unlike many here, that was a good thing to me...)The second was that, once she got away from the mostly uninteresting songs on her first album and cut loose, that she could really sing. I came in with admittedly low expectations and left mightily impressed.

I would have to have worked those gigs with horse blinders on. She is too distracting...
