Sho Bud Compactra / Ampeg amp - any experience with these??

I was by our local music store and played on a couple older tube amps that I've never seen before and wanted to see if anyone here on the forum have experience with these amps..

The first one was a Sho Bud Compactra 100 Custom -- an all tube, 15 inch speaker. The guy at store said these were made by Jim Evans for Sho Bud. Had a good tone and a cool look. He said some of these amps had the tuck and roll upholstery like the old kustoms. This one had the look of the Sho Bud Christmas tree amps.

The amp I play thru was a Ampeg VT-120 with a 15 inch EVM. This thing weighs a ton and has lots of power. Had 3 separate channels and seemed pretty versatile. The guy at the store said these were made to compete with the boogies.

Just wanted to see if any of the forumites have experience with these amps and any recommendations.

I have heard a couple Compactra's that sounded fantastic, one had a JBL and the other a Stephens Tru Sonic.
For a few years I had a Christmas tree, that amp sounded more like a tube amp than most tube amps do.
Mike, if its a real Evans built Compactra, snag it.
