Ransom, I think this was after Waylon recorded it, but how the hell have I not heard of Doug Campbell before? That was some fine pickin' right there!!
I've now done a little research on Mr. Campbell, he played for Charley Pride for a time on the road. Also did a lot of recording sessions. I believe he was from Nebraska.
Sorry for jacking your thread, Bill. |

I got to know Doug in the early 70's when I lived in OKC. I went to hear him play every chance I got. He was playing with Wilton Oneil and the Nite Lovers. WOW!!! What a band!!! When I would go back to OKC after moving to Amarillo, I always called him and went to hear him. He helped me get a band new MSA Classic in about 1974 directly from MSA. Played it for 26 years. I hated it when I heard he passed away about 7 years ago. He was one hell of a player. He helped me a lot when I was first starting to play. Always willing to show me a lick or two or get me straightened out on something. He will always be one of my all time heros. _________________ Keep pickin', Larry |
